2020 BAFTA Awards Winners

The EE British Academy Film Awards took place in London on Sunday. Approximately 6,700 BAFTA members voted for the nominations spanning 39 feature films. British theater director and filmmaker Sam Mendes’ WWI epic 1917, which landed nine nominations, took home seven wins including Best Film, and Outstanding British Film.

BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, is the British version of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization behind the Academy Awards. There is a lot of crossover between the organizations’ membership. As such, the BAFTA awards can be used as a barometer for what to expect once the Oscars roll around, which in this case will be Sunday, February 9th.
