Remastered ‘Batman Beyond’ Blu-ray Set Coming In October

Batman Beyond turns 20 this year and to celebrate Warner Home Media is remastering the entire series for home release. The officially titled Batman Beyond: The Complete Animated Series Limited Edition arrives via digital Oct. 15 and on Blu-ray Oct. 29.

The set comprises over 1,500 minutes; that’s a total of four discs for the Blu-ray box set. Included are two bonus discs which include a remastered version of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker and 15 featurettes. A total of four episodes will also feature new commentaries with executive producer Bruce Timm and members of his production team. Along with the physical collection will come a Batman Beyond Funko Pop figure and four lenticular art cards.

41 of the 52 episodes have been fully remastered from their original 35mm film. Grain, dust and dirt have all been removed for better color and to enhance the overall resolution of the images.

The remaining 11 episodes have reportedly taken on some permanent damage over the years. As a result, they’ve merely been  “Smart Rezzed,” which is just a fancy way of saying that they’ll still look better than the original prints but not as great as the fully restored episodes. If you’re curious, here is the list of the Smart Rezzed episodes:

“Eyewitness”
“Final Cut”
“The Last Resort”
“Armory”
“Sneak Peek”
“The Eggbaby”
“Zeta”
“Plague”
“April Moon”
“Sentries of the Lost Cosmos”
“Speak No Evil.”
