The first trailer for Jordan Peele’s much-anticipated sophomore film Us will no longer open on March 15th. Instead, the Get Out follow-up will hit theaters on March 22nd.

Universal, the distributor behind Peele’s film, announced recently that Us will debut opening night of the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas on March 8th. Shortly after, the studio made it known that the film’s theatrical release will be delayed one week in order to capitalize on the buzz that will inevitably surround Us coming out of the festival.

Unfortunately, tickets for the movie had already gone on sale at some outlets, which means a lot of refunds will need to be administered.

The Us cast includes Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex, Elizabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker. Peele produces for his Monkeypaw Productions, alongside Monkeypaw creative director Ian Cooper, in the company’s first solo production venture. Also producing are Sean McKittrick and Jason Blum. Written and directed by Peele, Us will be released by Universal Pictures on Friday, March 22, 2019.

What do you think about this news? Are you disappointed by the additional week wait? Or are you cool with the move? I want to hear your thoughts, so hit me up in the comments below!
