One of my mission here at Movie Minutes is to bring you the movie news I know you care about, especially when that news seems so stupid obvious that the fact it hasn’t happened yet is baffling.

Everyone’s favorite actor will be dawning one iconic cardigan to play everyone’s favorite tv host. According to Variety, Tom Hanks will portray Mr. Rogers in the upcoming biopic You Are My Friend.

The report discloses quite an interesting story angle:

The film is inspired by a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and award-winning journalist Tom Junod. In the story, a cynical journalist begrudgingly accepts an assignment to write a profile piece on the beloved icon and finds his perspective on life transformed.

Diary of a Teenage Girl helmer Mariel’s Heller is set to direct with no release date announced.

What do you think of the news? Is this the most perfect casting ever? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
